Gas Consulting Services

As a major provider of natural gas customized consulting services to our growing list of clients, Ziff Energy undertakes assignments that address specific client needs in the areas of gas supply, gas demand, gas transport, gas storage, and gas price outlooks across North America to 2035.

Gas Supply - we assess each gas basin using fundamentals such as outlooks of gas well completions, new gas productivity, gas well decline rates, gas exploration and development F&D costs, production operating costs, plus our deep actual experience to provide our long term gas supply forecasts.   Speciality regions include: Western Canada (conventional, Tight Gas, CBM, Shale Gas, and natural gas liquids), Mackenzie Delta, Canadian East Coast, Alaska, US Rockies (Green River, Unita-Piceance, Paradox, San Juan, Powder River, and 15 other smaller basins), Gulf of Mexico (Deepwater, Deep Shelf, and Shelf), and LNG imports (who, where, when, and cost) all to 2035.

Gas Demand - we assess gas demand by sector (residential, commercial,  industrial, power generation, and pipeline fuel) and by region (state and province) to 2035.  For residential and commercial gas demand outlooks, Ziff Energy assesses customer count and customer efficiency (normalised for degree days).  Pipeline fuel needs are assessed by gas basin and by delivery pipeline.  Gas for power generation includes an assessment of alternative fuels (nuclear, water, coal, wind, and other).  Industrial gas demand includes detailed Alberta oil sands project gas needs, along with gas needs for other industrials.

Pipeline Transportation - assessing current and future flow pattern potential impact on existing infrastructure. Providing expert testimony and advice regarding policy, rate design, cost allocation, issues identification and analysis.

Gas Storage - demand assessment, valuation, initial project feasibility, operations assessment, identification of buyers or sellers of physical storage assets, assessing the requirements/needs in an LDC or Industrial gas supply portfolio, and regulatory testimony.

Gas Price and Basis Assessment - of key drivers of prices by year and a forecast of Henry Hub.  Using our insight, Ziff Energy staff calculate a gas basis differential for various standard locations (and many unique client specific locations) to 2035.
